The Lord Secretary of the King's Law is a cabinet position in the Union of Royal American States. The person in this position is the main legal advisor to the government, and has executive authority for law enforcement, specifically enforcing the Royal Bill of Rights in judicial proceedings. The Department of the King's Law manages major legal cases in the country and a bureucracy of law officials and enforcers. The first Lord Secretary of the King's Law was Rufus King, appointed by King Andrew I in 1824 on the advice of Prime Minister Hunter DeRensis; like all cabinet positions, although they are appointed by the monarch, they are usually selected beforehand by the Prime Minister. Before the creation of this department, legal proceedings were handled locally without any specific rights given to citizens, with a bigger reliance on common law.
