Joseph Bonaparte (born Giuseppe Buonaparte; January 7, 1768- July 28, 1844) was the first ruler of the Free City of St.Louis, a Catholic city-state and satellite of the Louisiana Republic and the Union of Royal American States. Married to Chastity Chrysler, daughter of shipping magnate Christian Charles Chrysler, Joseph turned St. Louis into one of the largest trade center in North America.
